A LARGE ENGRAVED CEREMONIAL GOBLET

An exceptionally ornate ceremonial goblet, masterfully cut and engraved. The generous bowl is adorned with finely detailed armourial engraving, featuring family coat of arms associated to Matthes family flanked by elaborate scrolling mantling and military trophies topped with a lion, all executed with remarkable precision and depth. The reverse is engraved with a banner inscribed 'Het Welvaaren Van Wyk 49' which translates to 'the prosperity of district 49'. The lower bowl is embellished with bold cut decoration that flows seamlessly into an impressive multifaceted stem, sculpted with double-knopped section, all set upon the substantial domed foot, finished with scalloped edges.
