AN EXTREMELY RARE ENGLISH GEORGE II PERIOD CUT GLASS CHANDELIER

An extremely rare English George II period cut glass eight light chandelier the main receiver plate supporting eight nitch cut slipover candle arms arranged on two tiers with star cut drip pans, the glass receiver bowl finely cut with incised diamonds terminating with a flat cut finial, the main shaft finely cut with flat diamond cutting and incised diamonds.

 


The chandelier still retains its original steal rod with spacing pins and washers for the glass shaft to rest on.

The chandelier is attributed to Colebron Hancock a chandelier of identical design is illustrated on there trade card, see page 113 plate 58 The English Glass Chandelier by Martin Mortimer.


Chandeliers of this type are extremely rare with very few examples existing today.
